It's time for our Monthly Round-Up of Animation Industry News! Its been a busy month, so let us bring you up to speed with all the buzz worthy stories!

1. Universal buys DreamWorks!

Earlier this month Comcast's $3.8 billion acquisition of DreamWorks was completed. CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg expressed his gratitude to the DreamWorks Animation Staff in a memo, thanking them for 22 years of joy.

2. Archer abs mmy for Best Animated Progra & Robot Chicken ins Best Animated Short Program!

This past weekend Archer won an Emmy for Best Animated Program and Robot Chicken won an Emmy for Best Animated Short Program. This was Archer's first Emmy in this category, however Robot Chicken has had a popular run in the Short Animated Program category! Last week we highlighted all the nominee's in these categories, do you agree with the TV academy on these wins?

3. Celebrity Dax Shepard to co-direct Scooby Doo Animated Film

We've always been fans of Dax Shepard's work and we're so excited he's signed on to co direct Scooby and his friends in the upcoming film. Tony Cervone, animation director behind Space Jam will also be attached to the film. Too bad we have to wait until 2018!

4. Fox animation hires Nate Hopper for Live Action/CG Hybrid Initiative

Fox Animation's new initiative in Live Action/CG Hydrid movies will be run by Nate Hopper, a former Sony Pictures Animation exec. Although most details on the initiative are being kept under wraps, we're sure Hopper will bring much creativity to the initiative, his most credible credits include Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and Hotel Transylvania.

5. New Pokemon Animated Series Announced

Can you believe Pokemon has been around for 20 years? With its new found popularity due to Pokemon Go, the franchise will be releasing a new web series named Pokemon Generations. The series will air on YouTube starting September 16th, with new episode installments every week until December 23rd!

6. Gwen Stefani to create new Animated Series!

Did you know Gwen Stefani has an animated series that aires in Australia -- and starting October will air in the US? Its true, Gwen Stefani and Nickelodeon are teaming together to bring her animated series named Kuu Kuu Harajuku to the US. The show, inspired by Gwen's infamous inspiration The Harajuku Girls, premieres on Nickelodeon on Monday October 4th.

7. Former Paramount & Disney Executive is Named CEO Of Alpha Animation

Bob Bacon, former executive at Disney and Paramount Pictures has been tapped as CEO of Alpha Group Co's Alpha Animation. The company is China based and best known for being a co producer on The Mermaid.

9. Eric Miller Animation Studios founder Eric Miller is selected as University of Toledo - University College's Outstanding Alumni of 2016!

Here's some exciting news to share, Eric Miller, CEO of Eric Miller Animation Studios has been selected as University of Toledo - University College's Outstanding Alumni this year! He and his wife will be flown out to Toledo in October and be presented with the award at the Homecoming Gala on October 14th! We're so proud of him!
