1. Amazon Studios to develop its first Animated Film

Amazon might be developing its first animated feature film with Emily the Strange. Emily, a "strange" girl that loves cats was a character created by Rob Reger. The comic Emily the Strange was at heightened popularity in the late 90s/Early 00's and even had a few retail stores which sold Emily merchandise! There is currently no writer, director, or star attached to the animation project, but according to The Hollywood Reporter, Amazon's version would “would keep the authenticity and edge of the property” of the original Emily the Strange.

2. Moana wins big at Box Office!

Some have claimed that Disney's Moana, may be one of Disney's "Best Movie in Decades". With a combination of great characters, storyline, and music, the film has been doing terrific at the Box Offices, even weeks after its release. The film has been said to be great for both adults and kids. Have you seen it yet?

3. Animated Films Nominated for Golden Globes

Kubo and the Two StringsMoanaMy Life as a ZucchiniSing, and Zootopia are all up for Golden Globes this year. While many have argued that Finding Dory was one of the biggest snubs among the Golden Globe Nominations, it is likely that Moana will win. The Golden Globes are set to take place in Los Angeles on Sunday, January 8th on NBC.

4. Puff The Magic Dragon to come to The Big Screen!

Fox Animation has officially acquired the rights to Puff the Magic Dragon. The film is set to be a combination CGI-live-action hybrid and Trolls director, Mike Mitchell is set to direct the project. No release date has been set for the film.

5. Sony Taps Lin-Manuel Miranda to score music on new Animation Project

After successfully writing the music for Disney's Moana, Sony has asked the multi-talented Lin-Manuel Miranda to write to music for Vivo, Sony's new animation film. The film, which stars a monkey who loves adventure and music, won't hit theaters until December 2020!

6. MagicMeeMees Episode 4 is released!

In case you missed it, Episode 4 of MagicMeeMees was released! This is the 4th episode in the web series based on the MagicMeeMee toys from Future of Play. We were so excited to play a part in bringing these amazing little toys to life in these 3D animated shorts. Each episode takes place in a different world where you will get to meet more of the MagicMeeMees each time.
