1. The Croods 2 is officially cut by DreamWorks Animation.

Universal Pictures, DreamWork Animation's new parent company has scrapped The Croods sequel. Although this was not completely unexpected for many working on the project, due to the fact they kept changing the release date, some Crood's fans are sure to be upset. Die hard Croods Fan? Don't worry, apparently someone at DreamWorks mentioned that “The Croods is still very much in the DreamWorks catalog. It’s not unheard of that it might be something someone takes a look at in the future.”

2. Studio Ghibil Director Hayao Miyazaki Making One Last Film!

Hayao Miyazaki, who we've covered in more detail here, has decided to come out of retirement to make one final film! Apparently Miyazaki was not satisfied with a short he was working on, and decided to turn it into a feature. Ideally he'd like the feature film to be finished in time for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

3. Oscars 2017 Animation Category has a record amount of entries!

On November 11th The Academy announced that 27 Animated films qualified for consideration for this years Best Animation category, thats a record-high! While there are many contenders, Seth Rogen has made it clear that he's pushing for Sausage Party to win, which would break Disney's 4 year streak of winning!

4. The Simpsons renewed for record-breaking 30th Season!

Are you a Simpsons fan? You're in luck! The Simpsons has been renewed for a record breaking 29th and 30th season, making it the longest running scripted TV show! After its 30th season, the show will have hit 669 episodes! The Simpsons has won 32 Emmys and 34 Annie Awards over the past 26 years!

Eric Miller spoke at DreamWorks Animation last month about his journey as CEO of Eric Miller Animation Studios. His talk covered the learning curves of starting your own animation company, the triumphs he's had so far, as well as the specifics of major client successes.
